Off-Piste Art Exhibition

When I think about Off-Piste it makes me think of Apres Ski. I get the two mixed up because I’m such a radical dude (in my dreams) and obsessed with good mulled wine (connection?). When I was thrust into the knowledge there’s an art exhibition with the same name I wanted to know more.

Off-Piste is an awesome display of some of the towns best artistic talent and old snowboards given a new lease of life. The good dudes at NZ Shred and local artist Tess Sheerin came together with the idea to give the old snowboards a new lease of life using artists picked especially for their talent.

Idea: boards can be painted, sculpted or broken up to create something. Aswell as the local artists, eight local high school students are involved too, adding another slant on the original idea.

Opening night is 24th of June (start of Queenstown Winter Festival which you can see my picks here) where the boards will be displayed alongside some snowboard documentaries. Gold coin donation with all proceeds going to support local para-snowboarder Carl Murphy in his athletic future.

Where: Queenstown Arts Centre, Stanley Street, Queenstown

When: Starts 24th June running until 13th July

How much: Gold coin donation
