On my travels I get to stay in some lovely hotels and accommodation. Whilst in Christchurch the amazing Patterson family owned Commodore Airport Hotel was my stay for a couple of days. I wasn’t prepared for the vast amount of things to do inside the hotel, nevermind in the city centre itself. I also got to meet “Norman”, a beautiful bright orange Mini who drove me around the city for three days from Touchdown Car Rentals who are also located at the hotel. Easy!

The hotel itself is inspirational. The Patterson family had been involved in the hotel industry since 1939 and in 1971 The Commodore was built, a partnership with the Ward’s and Patterson’s. Expanding all the way up until 2013 and then in 2014 became an independent hotel.
Not only are the rooms beautiful and comfy there’s also a swimming pool and spa, sauna, fitness centre, business centre, restaurant and bar, terrace surrounded by flowers and an area to sit and just be quiet. The sun was a-shining whilst I was there and to sit outside and not feel like I was near the city was wonderful.
Feeling like a complete and utter adult I picked up my lovely bright orange Mini and headed into the city. I had a list of places to go and visit a mile long and you can read about them here!
The car was snappy, quick and the fact that I could squeeze into places that most cars couldn’t was a result! Some of the faces I got from people in massive cars was also a bonus too 😉
The Commodore Airport Hotel was so cozy I wanted to hole up there the whole time I was in Christchurch, after work was finished I got cozy in my massive bed, ordered room service (amazing caesar salad alert) and I may have had a nifty little glass of red. Four different pillows to choose from (Goldilocks anyone? ) and I was set. A little rap at the door at 7pm and a lovely lady handed over chocolates, water and asked me if there was anything else I needed? I was going to ask her to do my taxes but I smiled and left her to it……well done The Commodore!
The hotel also houses some of the most amazing photographs and artefacts from Antarctica and Scott Base. Snow and ice geek alert! Some of the most beautiful pictures adorn the halls and walkways.
The Commodore Airport Hotel is perfect for a trip to the city, just hanging around your hotel suite forever or getting your radness on and driving a bright orange Mini from Touchdown Car Rentals.
