And like that it’s October. And the year end is coming nearer and nearer! But it’s not all doom and gloom because we’ve done another show (here is the first one) and you’re going to love it. Well, our mum’s probably will love it and hopefully some of you lot.
We talk alot about music but I also have the idea that music evokes memory (just like smell) and when we hear something it can take us right back to a place, a person or a feeling like no other. This is something I wanted to explore here. And so Scott and I picked our five tracks/ albums that gave us a memory.
Jane:
The Beach Boys: Do It Again Single
Massive Attack: Mezzanine Album
Michael Jackson: Bad album
New Order: Elegia Single
Olivia Newton John: Let’s Get Physical
Scott:
Newton Faulkner: Teardrop single (cover)
The Tragically Hip: Scared single
The Beach Boys: Good Vibrations
Nirvana: Smells Like Team Spirit
Radiohead: Fake Plastic Trees
We’d also love to hear what your favourite memory songs are and any ideas you have for the show! Send them in below.
Love the Xylophone! ? Ahhhh took me back! Hmmm so many memories linked to songs hey? Albums i played to death- Dummy by Portishead, i had moved out of home at 17 & was ‘discovering’ the dark & gritty corners of Melbournes underground scene.
Vs by Pearl Jam & ANY Violent Femmes hit takes me back to high school days. Money for Nothing by Dire Straits always reminds me of my dad- he would do ‘air guitar & air drums’ whenever that song started! Thats all for now, thanks for the trip down memory lane- now you know its NOT just your mums listening!
I LOVE IT!! I too love Portishead and would lay for hours on the floor! Much appreciated!
Great picks! Pearl Jam Vs. would have definitely been my 6th choice! Thanks for listening – Scott
