Wonderful\u00a0Christchurch<\/span><\/a>\u00a0is growing from strength to strength. Post earthquake and there’s all kind of thing to do in the city, the outskirts, the beach. Cafes, art, business, pop-ups, fashion, culture and biking!<\/p>\n

I knew I was going to be in Christchurch for a week for\u00a0TEDxScottBase<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and so I thought why not see the city using one of my favourite ways to travel- the bicycle!<\/p>\n

I was introduced to Rob of\u00a0Next Bike<\/span><\/a>\u00a0who have landed here in the city (also in Auckland and Cambridge) and their amazing Spark bikes in various locations in town. Sign up to the App, read some info online and you’re away.<\/p>\n

Find a share bike<\/span><\/a> nearest to you, snap the code into the App, get the bike lock code, slip on the helmet provided and then all you have to do is work out which of the many cafes to head to for coffee…..the hardest bit in my opinion.<\/p>\n

Places to head to<\/span><\/p>\n

The Tannery-
\nSlightly out of the city centre is The Tannery<\/span><\/a> (approx 30 mins riding). A wonderful space full of owner operated businesses, you’ll find fashion, crafts, homewares, florists, cafes and a brewery! I took my trusty bike share steed for a roll through the back streets of Christchurch and met with the media manager there about all their amazing things coming up. A complete must do whilst you’re in Christchurch.<\/p>\n

Rollickin Gelato-
\nSomething I was looking forward to for weeks was visiting Rollicking Gelato<\/span><\/a>. An absolute haven for the gelato enthusiast. Set back on one of New Zealand’s most beautiful streets, New Regent Street is like being in the South of France and NZ all at once. Cafes, shops and now ice-cream! You can settle into their vintage furniture\u00a0and watch the world go by. So many choices and for an extra 50c fill your cone full of chocolate. I may have visited more than once. I may also have Instagrammed<\/span><\/a> the heck out of the place too.<\/p>\n

Re:Start Mall-
\nSet in the heart of Christchurch city, Re:Start<\/span><\/a> Mall was set up post earthquake to get people out and about again. It quickly became known for it’s container style shopping and is now a hub to over 50 businesses. Food, fashion, banks, markets, shoes, homewares, sportswear you will absolutely definitely find something to flash your cash to. I went for the German sausage and no that isn’t a euphemism.<\/p>\n

Fine Fare Kitchen\/ Gourmet Hub-
\nBeing given a tip from NZ bloggers on somewhere I had to visit is a sure sign that it was going to be good. I headed out on my two wheels\u00a0and within ten minutes I found my way to Victoria Street and in particular Gourmet Hub. Home to three delicious businesses serving up food and coffee. Fine Fare Kitchen<\/span><\/a>, Home<\/span><\/a> and Coffee Traders<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

I managed to sneak in and have some delicious chicken snitzel with crispy sage, poached apricot, ranch dressing and triple cooked potatoes from Fine Fare Kitchen. You will want more of the twice cooked potatoes I can tell you now. Crispy, golden and delicious.<\/p>\n

Home served up a deliciously light Hawaiian Japanese fusion Poke salad bowl. After all that food I had a good crack at coffee and unfortunately\u00a0didn’t make it. Next time!<\/p>\n
