My house is a pretty special place. I live out in the middle of nowhere \u00a0and there’s a menagerie of animals and wildlife dotted around the area. Dogs, chickens, horses, goats, sheep and of course me.<\/p>\n

I love coming home after a long day in the saddle<\/span><\/a> or at the computer and walking through the door to my little paradise. I also love entertaining and bringing people to this special place. So when I noticed dontbeadoormat<\/span><\/a> on Instagram<\/span><\/a> and their fabulous mats I literally ran out of the door into the paddock and shouted at the horse (Misty) “get me one of those”.<\/p>\n

A wonderful small but mighty<\/span><\/a> business right here in New Zealand, Dan and Tess started making their incredible dontbeadoormat<\/span> <\/a>when they couldn’t find mats that ‘spoke’ to them as they crossed a threshold. Welcome doesn’t really say much but ‘Got wine?’ or ‘Welcome Homie’ really does.<\/p>\n

I picked ‘Haere Mai<\/span><\/a>‘ as Te Reo is part of this land and the animals are from here. I now know they’re fluent in Maori as all of them came into the house after reading it. I might have to change it later to read “everyone but the animals”. Horses in the house might be a step too far.<\/p>\n

Humans yes, goats and sheep not so much.<\/p>\n
