Wine. Let it sit on the tip of you tongue as you imagine light evenings sipping a lovely Pinot Noir<\/a> in your best shorts whilst the bbq roars and a devilishly handsome someone fires up the coals.<\/p>\n

Now come back to the real world where a devilishly handsome Pinot Noir is poured into your glass and you’ve got yourself China Girl<\/a><\/span> 2014 by the equally talented Crown Range Cellar<\/span><\/a>. Same same but different.<\/p>\n

“Plums and Christmas cake spice, lots of dark tannin extract and dark chocolate. Rich and pure\u201d.<\/p>\n

After that you don’t need anything else. I don’t need to say anything else about it, but you know me well now so I will.<\/p>\n

Crown Range<\/span><\/a> Cellar is a beautiful non-traditional wine producer (I like them already) who,’born on the scribble of a napkin’, decided to push the boundaries in terms of wine making and production. Experimentation, dreaming, great land and amazing artisans in the industry and you have yourself a pretty interesting and wonderful company committed to bringing the best the land has to offer in terms of it’s wine flavours.<\/p>\n

China Girl Pinot Noir is an expression of beauty and culture, honouring the Chinese miners of the region, living in the often harsh conditions of the late 1800’s. Grapes have been handpicked from land on Chinaman’s Terrace in Bendigo (Central Otago) and bottled with a beautifully designed label encompassing a touch of the land, the heritage and the history.<\/p>\n

It reminds me also of the late great David Bowie and his famous song China Girl \u201cI hear her heart beating, loud as thunder. Saw they stars crashing. I\u2019m a mess without my little China girl\u201d. I\u2019ll be a mess too when I run out because this wine sucks you in, surrounds your mouth with it\u2019s velvety tones. It\u2019s full bodied and rich, it has depth, whereas some other wines dissipate after the first mouthful.<\/p>\n

We had it with a hearty Spaghetti Bolognese on a chilly Spring evening by the fire but it would also fit quite snug on a warm Summers evening with a bbq seared lamb fillet, with friends and family out on the deck. Tired from a day on the lake, sleepy and melancholy.<\/p>\n

The clever people at Crown Range Cellar bring you China Girl<\/span><\/a> for your up and coming seasons, whether they are warm or cool, fitting in with picnics, brunches or a light tipple on a cool evening.<\/p>\n
