If you’re looking at these pictures and wondering if I’ve jetted off to Italy, you’d be wrong (It’s right here in Queenstown) and right (inside there’s an Italian marble storm brewing). The absolutely mind blowing Nugget Point is a complete GEM tucked away in Arthurs Point and it’s ripe for your wine tasting, dinner-quaffing, body-massaging needs right now. It’s been there for ages and everytime I get my feet in the place, I feel like I’ve been transported to Bella Italia (but with a view, not of Lake Garda, but of the rolling beauty of Queenstown valley).
I drove from town (a mere seven minute drive), parked up on at Nugget Point on a frosty Thursday morning and tripped the light fantastic into it’s clutches. There’s a fountain in the car park (I squealed), gold handles on the front doors and a wispy peaceful hush over the place as you enter. I headed into the spa and was greeted by the lovely Mavi who would ease me into the different rooms allotted to spa treatments, large plunge pool, sauna and steam room, beautiful marbled floors and some of the most stunning mosaic walls I’ve seen this side of the equator.
I spent some time taking photos with my new camera (a trusty Sony A6300 if you’re wondering) and the light inside Nugget Point is just perfect for photographs. There’s a bar, restaurant, hotel, views, and then then then there’s the Spa.
I was booked in for a massage and after careful assessment of my wonky shoulder Mavi set to work. I had to hurry and get changed because I was so enamoured with the view from the bed that I totally forgot I was there for a treatment. I could have stared all day. There is an extensive list of treatments from pedicures, manicures and even massage for you and your loved one. Although I like to have a massage all to myself. No sharing.
With your treatment there is also access to the gorgeous plunge pool, sauna and steam room and the restaurant and bar if you need somewhere to lounge around for longer once your treatments are done. This place is seriously all about the lounging and the views are to die for. Arthur’s Point is fast becoming a haven for things to get up to either before or after your ski, and if you don’t enjoy the white stuff you can spend the whole day here getting your slumber on, or a quick trip by car and you’re there for a drink in, seriously, one of the best place to photograph in town.
