One of the most exciting things about this world of crazy social media and photography is the connections and friends I’ve made through it. Real friends. Not “oh hi I’ll like you’re photos and then leave because you now follow me” but real honest down to earth I’ll-buy-you-cake-when-youre-ill type of people. They’re the people I like. It also helps if they like coffee, taking snaps and being outside. The deal is sealed.

#snappersqueenstown is a group of like minded souls who like to hang outside swinging cameras or picture-taking devices around and then go drink coffee. Sounds simple eh? Meet in a new place every time and show how we all take photos so differently. This time we headed up Skippers Road on a beautiful sunshiny cold Sunday. We got out, snapped to our hearts content, gasped at the sights infront of us. And bammo. Or so I thought…..

I wondered why we were driving up instead of down until too late. We hit some ice on the road, the sunshine had disappeared and we were quickly skidding on the road. Two hours later, some of us newbies, some of us already firm friends were helping each other to get two cars out of the ice. Chains were applied (you need them in these parts) and we finally got back into the sunshine. Hot chocolate all round. We made friends that morning.

My amazing group is also in Christchurch! Run by the amazing Julz from Further Faster. Get in touch with her here.
