My Food Bag arrives in Queenstown

I am the worlds laziest cook and I’m even worse when it comes to shopping for recipes. I love to eat food, taste food, dine out for food but when it comes to preparing it I turn into my 18 year old student self and create an epic cornflake-toast dish most nights.

With my family extending recently the need to eat good food and eat it quickly became all the more apparent and important. Thankfully for us My Food Bag has arrived here in Queenstown and I was lucky enough to try it out.

It’s as simple as– pick your type of meal (we went for “classic bag for two“), the amazing team and Nadia pick the dishes for the week, they let you know the menu a few days before, shop for the ingredients (my least favourite part yay!) and deliver to your door on a Sunday or Monday. You then cook and enjoy (and the meals take between 30 minutes to an hour to prep and they’re really really easy).

Bingo!

We chose the meals for two and my my my they were absolutely delicious. We were ravenous most nights having an extra one to look after and so looked forward to the prep, not having to shop and then a delicious nutritious meal at the end of the day.

We could also prepare the dish and totally pretend we had come up with the meal to our respective other halves. Heaven. (Shhh don’t tell Nadia)

Step by step recipes that even a idiot (aka me) in the kitchen could totally get into and meals that were full of flavour and completely delicious. Not a soggy carrot in sight.
Got a new love on the horizon? Impress their socks off! Need to sort out the in-laws? Get them round and make them a dish from the list. It couldn’t be more easy.

We had four days of recipes which consisted of Mango and Coconut Chicken with Brown Rice, Slow-Braised Beef Casserole with Jasmine Rice (my favourite), Polenta-Crusted Lamb Leg Steak with veggie Couscous and Falafel Kebabs with Tzatziki and Salad. Divine. All of them. Divine.

Because of our situation and how starving we are (ALL OF THE TIME) it’s a heavenly thing to remember you have it waiting at the end of the day. We also now cook together, which is great for families who want to teach their children to cook (I’m the child here). Brilliant.

Well done My Food Bag. We shall return. And a little note- can there be cake on the menu?
