“Smile please! Cheese!” all provoke the same fear in my tummy, from a lifetime of not knowing how to smile or ‘be’ in photographs. I have made the same seemingly sheepish grin since I was about five years old and the thought of standing still for something so boring and staid as a portrait shot sends shivers down my spine.
Kate Roberge is a nymph like creature currently residing on these shores. Hailing from Canada, the girl knows how to shoot a camera and shoot it so you don’t feel intimidated. We all have a side that we want people to see, whether we think that’s our good side. Our quirks, our little grin, the cheekiness, the mannerisms that doesn’t always come out until late at night and Kate Roberge Photography manages to capture them all.
Some things to think about:
If you need a photograph for your business profile on Linkedin or your business card, get someone (i.e. Kate Roberge) to take you doing something that says something about you. Standing against a blank wall
grimacing smiling tells us nothing. Got for a walk, have a laugh and then take the photos.
Think about what you want to convey for when you look back in fifty years. If you hate your cousin in law half removed, don’t have them in the pictures.
Want some photos of you that will show off a side of you that even you’ve never seen before? Kate is amazing at making people feel relaxed. Even if you’re in your bra. We didn’t get to do this at Bobs Cove but I can tell you her shots are awesome.
Kate Roberge managed to capture my
funny face completely serious side whilst enjoying a gorgeous hot sunny walk. We frolicked, we hiked up and up and then we paddled by the lake. All the while she clicked away without so much of a ‘cheese’ in sight.
I love a good collaboration, as you both have a good understanding of how each other works. You can both say I do a bit of this and that and none of that. I want some of that and just a touch of this. And it works.
