Front Room Queenstown keeps rolling out the exhibitions in storming fashion. Electrical storm infact. Practitioners is the first showing of a group of Wakatipu artists formed late in 2015 showcasing mediums including painting, jewellery, photography and moving image. Wakatipu Art and Kulture Collective’s show is here until the end of August.

Including Jessica Winchcombe, Paul Green, Sophie Scott, Rosa Scott, Ella Mills, Philippa O’Brien and Simon Morrison-Deaker.

Paul Green explains “(It) Explores the space between the fixed and the fleeting, between the craft of analog and the disposability of digital. What that means is… as a photographer I’m conscious that I’m working at a time when photography has become a commodity. As such we give images such a short amount of our time. Both in making them and then in viewing them. We swipe through images given each maybe 0.5 a second and then move on. We quickly forget them. How many Instagram images can you really remember? Even ones you ‘hearted’? So this piece is me addressing that issue. I wanted to make something physical and tangible. carefully crafted and time consuming. but that something I made was a replica of the virtual. Hopefully it invites people to question the value of consuming images in this way.”
