Nadene Milne Gallery; Max Gimblett Exhibition ‘Happy, Joyous and Free’.

One of my absolute favourite things to do (no not cake) when it’s rainy outside is to fill my tum with cake (ok ok you guessed), coffee, wrap up and wander the art galleries in Queenstown and Arrowtown. Nadene Milne is one of my favourites. Hidden away down the little lane next to Saffron and the chemist is this gallery which houses some of my favourite pieces of art and in particular at the minute New Zealand artist Max Gimblett.

Max Gimblett’s shapes (and in particular the quatrefoil; a leaf or flower consisting of four leaflets or petals) are recognisable for their absolute stunning colours and paint splashes. This exhibition is on until the end of the month (July). One of the most stunning is a large circular shape piece with 23kt gold leaf covering it’s surface. It shines in the sun and inevitably makes the room look bigger with it’s mirror like quality. Enough reason to buy one I should think.

Wrap up warm and get out of the house. Eat some cake and take in some art.
